What does a DNS backup look like?

A DNS backup is typically represented as a plain text document known as a zone file. A zone file contains all the records of the zone, as well as information about the authority and relevant dates.

While leafing through your zone files, you’ll be met with a really familiar view. Seeing the difference between two plain text files can be tricky sometimes. When you use BackupMyDNS, you’ll see a simplified diff of changes.
